It exhibits outstanding solubility in non-polar oils. At room temperature, it is a waxy solid, but it readily becomes liquid upon heating. It is commonly used in military preservation oils and rust preventive oils, and can also be formulated with extreme-pressure agents in lubricating oils and greases.

Interprocess corrosion inhibitor:

Its unique water-displacing property allows it to drain and inhibit corrosion even when residual moisture remains on the metal surface, eliminating the need for drying before use.

Lubrication:

It neutralizes acids released during the use of sulfur-containing extreme-pressure agents, thereby extending the service life of the oil.

Corrosion inhibitor:

Both the carboxylate group and the amine group in Octadecylamine N-oleoyl Sarcosinate adsorb onto metal surfaces, while the two additional hydrocarbon chains contribute significant van der Waals forces, forming a dense protective film.
